“I wanted to express my sincere gratitude for the amazing gifts Kidz 4 A Cure donors bestowed upon my grandsons, Antonio and Donnell Murray. I decided to go pick them up from our hometown of New Orleans last year when their mother (my daughter), went to jail. Then we (my partner and I), decided to later keep them after her release to allow her an opportunity to get a job and a decent place to live with the boys, only for her to not work and get sent back for a parole violation and have another baby in the process. We had to move into a bigger more expensive place for a better area and school for the boys. DCFS gives me 241.00 monthly for both boys so things are a little tight, but I wouldn't have done it any other way. Giving them a chance to have a childhood outweighs anything I have to face to ensure their safety. Last year, I got referred to the NYAP (National Youth Advocacy Program) which assisted me in getting a legal aid attorney to help my custody of the help boys. The also provided respites giving the boys social outings with other kids in their same situation and me a much-needed stress-free kid less break! I was surprised to receive the call and gifts that Lorrie Cram brought over for the boys' Christmas. I'm honored that your organization took the time to bless my boys this holiday season. They loved everything! And the best part they're so very appreciative. It always makes my heart smile whenever I can do the littlest thing for them because they show such an excitement of a very large gesture.”
